WISC-V (Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children and Adolescents)
The WISC-V scale is considered to be the most reliable and valid psychometric tool worldwide for the evaluation of the cognitive development of children, aged from 6 years to 16 years and 11 months, which is weighted in Greece. The time required for its administration is 60-90 minutes. In the fifth edition of the WISC, changes were made that enhance the scale's contribution to the psychological assessment of children. Five different intelligence indicators emerge from this. In addition to the General Intelligence Index (GI), it also examines: Verbal Comprehension Index (DII), Visuospatial Perception Index (OSI), Fluid Reasoning Index (DRS), Working Memory Index (WMI) and Processing Speed Index (SPI).
In addition, other auxiliary and complementary indicators can be examined, which result from individual processing of the child's score in each test, thus reinforcing the findings of the psychological examination, thus giving more information about the child's mental profile.
The evaluation and assessment of a child's mental functioning can contribute to the Diagnosis of Level of Mental Functioning, Diagnosis of Specific Difficulties, Planning of a Program to Address Learning Difficulties, Therapeutic Program Planning and Appropriate Therapeutic Intervention.
